Project Description
This 51,000 square foot project called for the renovation and addition to the existing maintenance facility, and the construction of a new DPW administration building and salt shed. The main challenge was to do so while keeping the DPW operational.
Colantonio built the new administration building first. DPW personnel moved over in seven months – well ahead of schedule – minimizing disruption to the DPW’s daily activities. Meanwhile, the shop drawing process and fabrication of the metal building additions for the DPW garage were in progress. Effective work sequencing staggered the start times of the additions and renovations to the Water Sewer Building and the DPW garage.
The main building, which is metal-framed with concrete foundation walls, houses the maintenance bays and equipment storage space. Improvements included a wastewater recharging system, new catwalks, and various shop equipment additions. Colantonio also installed new oil and gas tanks. Colantonio self performed all site work including general site preparation, foundations, utilities, and drainage and grading.
